Police and the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority are now investigating some suspicious transactions of people who are coming to invest in Fiji.

The Economic Crime and the Major Fraud Unit has confirmed that an investigation is underway following the complaints received from the Financial Intelligence Unit.

According to police the transactions involved a huge amount of money.

This follows the Financial Intelligence Unit reporting more than 400 suspicious transactions to Police, FIRCA and the Immigration Department for investigations.

Director Razim Buksh has confirmed that almost half of these cases involve tax issues and money laundering.
