Police are working on some strategies to combat the rise in the number of sexual offences committed against minors and the elderly.
Assistant spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said Police Commissioner Esala Teleni had introduced the "Jesus Strategy" late last year and this can be one of the many ways in which a decrease can be seen.
His comments come after an 80 year old woman was allegedly raped in Tavua by a 22 year old man while on another case, a 9 year old girl of Lami was allegedly raped by her 50 year old grandfather a number times this year.
The grandfather has been charged with five counts of rape and will appear in court today, while the 22 year old has been charged and remains in custody.
