Police work against time to lay charges
Deputy Commissioner of Police Eroni Antonio said they are aware of the 48 hour timeframe within which charges have to be laid and they are confident that this will be done.
He said, Khan will be detained at CPS overnight if charges are not laid within the next few hours.
While Police maintain that Khan has not been in custody for over 48 hours as yet, the Suva Magistrates court officials confirmed that his lawyer Tevita Fa has filed papers arguing that Khan has now been in police custody for over 12 days since being taken in on November 2nd.
Police sources confirmed earlier today that they are looking at laying nine charges against Khan including one count of resisting police arrest. We have also been informed that Khan has denied all the allegations leveled against him.
Meanwhile, a team of police officers conducted a raid at businessman, Ballu Khan's home at Kavika Place in Suva at around mid day today.
Village News was informed that Khan's partner, Agnes Bulatiko was informed about the planned raid and she went with a lawyer to the house to wait for the police team.
The six police searched the house and took four cane knives, two tarpaulin’s and four bags including a golf bag from the house so far. Police are yet to comment on the raid conducted at Khan's house.
