Police are calling on car owners to ensure that their cars are secured before leaving the vehicle following the arrest of a youth for stealing a car last weekend.

Regional Crime Officer Eastern, ASP Aca White said they arrested a nineteen year old youth who is expected to appear in court today.

It is alleged that last Saturday, the youth allegedly took off in a car which was parked in Nakasi.

According to Police, the owner of the car had gone to drop off some relatives in Nakasi and had left the car for a few minutes with the key still in the ignition.

The car was later found in Wainibuku after a Police tip-off.

ASP White said with the busy sporting weekend coming up, car owners need to ensure that when they leave their vehicles, it is switched off and properly secured.
