Police have warned that any student in uniform found loitering in town during school hours will be taken to task.
Spokesperson Fred Elbourne said officers will also be checking internet shops and amusement centres to see that children are not wasting their time.
Meanwhile the Education Ministry is hoping the Alaxity syndrome@ that is common around external exam times will not resurface and be a problem.
Minister Filipe Bole said as the Fiji Junior Certificate exams begins today, teachers should be mindful of this time and plan exciting and innovative teaching programmes that will sustain students interest to actively engage themselves in class activities.
Bole added students can easily take advantage of the lack of monitoring and supervision from both parents and teachers during these exam times, and opt in activities other than their schoolwork.
