The Fiji Police Force has warned hardware companies to cooperate with the Officials of the Commerce Commission who are carrying out an investigation into the pricing of hardware materials.
As police investigate an alleged assault on a Commerce Commission staff, Assistant Spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri stressed that police will accompany the officials to execute the court orders and anyone who tries to breach these orders will be taken to task.
Earlier today, the Commerce Commission confirmed that it has now requested police protection for its staff after a Staff member investigating hardware companies was allegedly threatened and assaulted on Friday evening.
Commission Chairman Dr. Mahendra Reddy alleged that the attack on his staff is linked to their investigation into hardware companies and they have now asked for Police protection.
Dr. Reddy said they are also concerned that hardware outlets are not allowing their staff to gather information and they had to resort to getting court orders.
