Police are now treating the death of a 29 year old man of Bau Island as Murder.
His body was found in a drain on Tuesday night.
Regional Crime Officer Eastern, ASP Arthur White said a post mortem was conducted yesterday and it was revealed that the man died of severe injuries to his skull and they are treating the case as a homicide.
He said a team of five officers from the Criminal Investigation Department are now in Bau interviewing people and gathering information.
The victim was last seen drinking grog with some of his friends and his body was found by a villager who was on his way home.
