Police will now submit the record of drivers who continue to breach traffic rules to the Land Transport Authority, for action to be taken against them.
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra they have given enough warnings to the drivers and looking at the records and the drivers being booked, the warnings are being ignored.
A total of 24,184 drivers have been booked from the beginning of the year till last month with 10,507 speeding cases, seatbelt offences 1306, careless driving 1591 and other traffic offences recorded 10,776.
Meanwhile, the Consumer Council of Fiji has welcomed the initiative by the LTA to incorporate fire safety training as a requirement for drivers.
Chief executive officer Premila Kumar said that it is important to educate the drivers and bus companies that the fire extinguisher should not be under lock and key.
