Acting police commissioner Crime Jese Marovia said police will continue to pursue the soldier implicated in the death of Nakelo villager, Nimilote Verebasaga to appear in court although the military is pushing for the soldier to appear before a military court martial panel.
Marovia confirmed to Legend FM news that consultations are currently underway between military lawyers, police and lawyers from the Director of Public prosecutions office and a decision is expected to be reached early this week whether he should appear in court or be court martial.
Marovia has refused to comment any further on the matter.
Nausori police have confirmed that the soldier was about to be charged last Thursday when a senior military officer arrived and took the soldier into Military custody.
