Police are expected to charge a 32-year-old man with murder later today after he allegedly killed a woman after throwing a stone at her yesterday morning in Colo-i-Suva.

Police confirmed that the suspect is in custody and being interrogated in relation to the incident and charges are expected to be laid today as they await post mortem results.

Sarojni Lata and her husband, who own a bakery in Nakasi, were delivering bread to villagers in Colo-I-Suva when a man appeared from bushes and grabbed the bag containing money.

Lata's husband gave chase and the robber fled into the bushes, however he returned with a big stone and threw it at the delivery van. The stone Lata, who was sitting inside.

She sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the Nausori Health Centre and then transferred to the CWM hospital where she later passed away.
