The Community policing awareness team consisting of senior officers and officers from the Juvenile Bureau visited Lau Groups to create crime free awareness on the remotest islands of the Group.

The awareness was conducted on the remote islands because a lot of cases go unreported due to the location of the villages.

Assistant Spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said last week the team was hosted and welcomed by the chief at Malaka Village in Cicia where they spoke to the villagers on issues regarding sexual offences, drugs, village by laws, blue light concept, juvenile issues, scholastic program, cadet program and the 2009 Crimes Decree.

The team also visited Lomaloma Village in Vanuabalavu.

They were joined by two officers from the Ready Action Unit who have remained on Cicia conducting Cadet training programs for students from forms 1 6.
