Police are now calling on the surrounding villages of Navosa to assist them in identifying and apprehending the driver who left behind an injured passenger in his vehicle after an accident in Valley Road, Keiyasi, last Saturday.
The middle aged man died later at the Sigatoka Hospital last week.
Assistant police spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said police do not have the identity of the driver however they believe he is from Navosa.
Police believe the driver was speeding and this caused the car to veer off the road and tumble.
It is alleged the driver left the injured passenger and escaped.
The road death toll now stands at 28 compared to 39 for the same period last year.
