Police are now looking for the driver of the truck where a 17 year old secondary school student of Sigatoka jumped out of on Wednesday night and later died after sustaining serious injuries.

Police Spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the truck driver is alleged to have failed to stop the vehicle so that five students who were on the truck could get off.

Sokomuri said they are looking for the driver and the only information they have is that it was a logging truck.

According to Police, the deceased with four other students who were staying in the school hostel allegedly sneaked out of the hostel on Wednesday night.

It is alleged the five then made their way to Nadi, where it is further alleged that they consumed alcohol and then boarded a loading truck to come back to the school hostel in Sigatoka.

The five were allegedly drunk and when they approached the school, they tried to stop the driver who allegedly failed to do so.

The five jumped out of the moving truck and the deceased sustained serious injuries.

She was taken to the hospital however doctors pronounced her dead.
