Police remain tightlipped
Fijivillage has questioned Police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri.
He told us that he has to check on the issue and get back to us.
However he has not answered several calls made to him.
Questions are now being raised by the Sydney family on what is happening as they have said that they are struggling to find answers.
The story has hit the headlines in many Australian media outlets and some are claiming that there is no Police investigation on how the tragic incident occurred.
It has been revealed that 28 year old Amy O’Maley from Terrey Hills had been paired with a dive master while diving around the coral reef at Beqa Lagoon on December 29th when she became separated from him.
Her boyfriend, Dale Kennedy who was holidaying with her in Fiji at the time has told Nine News that the guide resurfaced apparently to change his air tank and Amy was allegedly left alone amid strong currents.
Kennedy who was waiting on the dive boat said that is when he started to panic and did not see Amy resurface.
Amy was found 18 metres down.
She was brought to the surface unconscious and according to witness statements, it was Amy’s boyfriend and other tourist divers who sprang into action to administer CPR.
The dive crew from the diving company later joined them in rendering assistance as the boat made the 20 minute journey back to shore.
She was taken to hospital but the staffs were unable to revive her.
Amy's family is still awaiting the results of the post mortem.
Diver training organisation PADI is investigating but said it will keep its conclusions confidential, even from the family.
