Why aren’t you doing your job?

Those were the words of the Chief Magistrate Ajmal Gulab Khan as he told off a police prosecutor in court this morning.

The prosecutor had told the court that he did not have a file for a case called this morning after which Magistrate Khan raised serious concerns that police prosecutors are not doing their job and not executing the court orders.

The case involves an accused charged with stealing a brush cutter which he then sent to his island.

Magistrate Khan also questioned the prosecutor why only the accused is charged and not the person who took the brush cutter to the island as he is an accomplice in the crime.

Magistrate Khan stressed that, while in court, the prosecutor represented the Fiji Police Force and they must not be complacent in carrying out their duties.
