Police officers are yet to confirm whether the 7-year-old girl who went missing from Narain Jetty in Walu Bay yesterday morning, has been found.
Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says their officers have gone to Rewa after receiving information that a woman has the 7-year-old girl.
Naisoro says they received information that the woman has reported that she took Mereani Veitoyaki home after she noticed her standing alone at Narain Jetty early yesterday morning.
Mereani’s father had called for assistance from members of the public earlier this morning after his 7-year-old daughter went missing from Narain Jetty at 4am yesterday.
Atanasio Veitoyaki says his daughter had come in a boat from Taveuni to Suva.
He told Fijivillage that the 7-year-old girl had left Taveuni with her uncle, aunt and 15-year-old cousin.
They reached Narain Jetty at 4am yesterday and Mereani came out of the boat with her 15-year-old cousin.
Veitoyaki says the cousin then left his daughter outside the boat and went in to get her bag.
When she came out of the boat, Mereani could not be seen anywhere.
Mereani’s father says he was looking for his daughter all over Suva and checking at the homes of all the relatives however they were not able to locate her.
He was planning to go to Police later this morning however we contacted Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro with the information and the contact early this morning.
