Police are on standby to assist health officials in combating the current outbreak of typhoid in Navosa.
Police officers in Keyasi will assist medical officers in the area when requested by health officials.
The Ministry of Health public health officials are currently in the Navosa area working with Government officials to control the situation.
Spokesperson Iliesa Tora said their vaccination program in the affected areas of Navosa will start on Wednesday.
The vaccination program will be administered to people above the age of 2 years.
Typhoid fever is caused by ingesting bacteria in contaminated food or drink.
The main symptom is high fever. Other symptoms may include headache, diarrhea or constipation, and general discomfort.
Symptoms start 1 to 3 weeks after infection. If you develop a fever that lasts more than 2 days you should see a doctor.
