A police officer collapsed and died during a rugby match in Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, on Saturday.

Assistant spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed that the officer who was playing in a local league competition collapsed during the match.

He was rushed to the Sigatoka Hospital where he passed away.

A post mortem will be conducted today.

Meanwhile, another post mortem is expected to be done today to determine the death of a man who was found dead on the Sawani-Serea road early Saturday morning.

40 year old Shalesh Prakash, who was a crane operator, had gone to work on Saturday but was missing late in the evening.

Police have confirmed that Prakash had some visible injuries on his body and they have not ruled out foul play.
