Police are questioning a number of people in relation to the murder of 49 year old security officer, Sheik Mohammed Hassan in Naqere, Savusavu on Sunday night.

Assistant Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said people being questioned are information providers for police. He adds there are a few suspects which police are hunting for in the North.

Meanwhile, Director Police Operations, SSP Waisea Tabakau confirmed this morning that some suspects in this alleged murder escaped to Viti Levu yesterday and a team of police officers are hunting for these suspects in Suva.

Police have the identity of the suspects and are hopeful of arresting them soon.

Hassan was guarding the sawmill premises when three masked men broke in and allegedly assaulted him after tying him up.

The men then went inside the house of the sawmill owner who is a Korean national and also tied him up. They then fled with more than $14,000 cash.
