In response to a video circulating on social media regarding a family dispute involving a police officer, the Divisional Police Commander East and the Internal Affairs Unit are investigating the matter.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says they are aware of the concerns raised regarding the alleged misconduct of the officer.

Tudravu has requested time to gather all relevant information before any action is taken.

He says there are internal disciplinary procedures in place when reports of misconduct are lodged with the Internal Affairs Unit.

The Commissioner adds the officers have contacted both parties and internal investigations are currently underway.

Tudravu also urges social media users to be mindful of what they post, as it may attract unnecessary attention and further aggravate the situation through hurtful or inflammatory comments.

He adds emotions are running high and he is encouraging the public to continue using social media in a positive and constructive manner.
