Police investigate drowning cases
Police are investigating the death of a 7-year-old boy of Naitasiri who died after sustaining serious injuries while swimming with his friends.
Assistant Spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the boy was swimming with his friends and it is alleged that one of his friends threw him in a river and he sustained serious injuries.
He was rushed to the CWM hospital but died on Saturday afternoon. Police are awaiting the post mortem report.
In another incident, a 40-year-old woman died while diving in the Rewa River also on Saturday.
According to Police the woman was diving with a 42 year old friend when she had difficulty breathing.
She was taken to Nausori Health center where doctors pronounced her dead.
According to police the deceased had been diving for four hours without any rest.
A post mortem is expected to be conducted today.
Meanwhile, a 40 year old man died after experiencing breathing problems while diving in the Lau group on Saturday afternoon.
Two others died while swimming in the Sigatoka River last Monday.
