Police Commissioner Ben Groenewald has today confirmed that they are now conducting initial investigations in relation to a complaint filed against Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Solicitor General Sharvada Sharma and lawyer Tupou Baravilala.
Groenewald said the complaint is regarding alleged abuse of office.
Former Fiji Television Limited Head of Content Tanya Waqanika and former CEO, Tevita Gonelevu say they lodged a complaint with Police against the three in relation to Fiji TV yesterday.
Waqanika has also filed a complaint against the three with the Legal Practitioners Unit.
Chief Registrar, Yohan Liyange said he has received the complaint and it should follow its preliminary assessment by the unit before they confirm the next course of action.
Meanwhile CEO of Fijian Holdings Limited which is the majority shareholder of Fiji TV, Nouzab Fareed has said in a press conference that he was not pressured by Sayed-Khaiyum, Sharma or any other officer.
Fareed also said that as a businessman he wrote a letter to World Rugby, stating that they should allow the live broadcast of the HSBC 7s tournaments on all free-to-air TV stations.
Fareed said the decision to sack the two employees was made by a duly constituted Board of Directors of Fiji TV.
He also said this was done without interference, direction or pressure by the Attorney General, Solicitor General or any other officer.
He said the two employees that were sent home should refer to their employment contracts which are clear on the terms of engagement and termination.
Tanya Waqanika claimed that she lost her job because Fiji TV wanted to secure its network license.
Former CEO of Fiji Television Limited Tevita Gonelevu and Waqanika have also called for a Commission of Inquiry to investigate their termination.
