The Police Traffic Department now has three new speed radars which are of the latest model and are programmed to detect the speed of five vehicles at a time.
These new radars have been brought from the United States.
The Traffic Department confirmed the new radars are also capable of detecting the speed of vehicles which are driven in any of the four lanes mainly between Suva and Nausori.
The old radars were not equipped to detect the travelling speed of vehicles that were driven in more than two lane roads.
The Traffic Department is planning to buy ten more radars by the end of this year which will cost around $60,000.
