Police are ensuring that the 9-year-old girl who was brutally raped in Nakasi earlier this month is getting the best available professional services.

Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Henry Brown says the 9-year-old girl has been receiving professional counselling services.

He says they are also working with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services Pacific who provide assistance in terms of the medical examination of victims as well as counselling.

Meanwhile Police are calling for public assistance to locate the suspect in the rape case.

ACP Henry Brown says police are pleading for information that could help identify the suspect based on the description that has been released.

After taking the statement of the 9-year-old girl they have managed to draw a sketch of the alleged rapist.

They are looking for a slim i-Taukei man with dark complexion.

According to Police, the suspect was wearing a white collared t-shirt and black three quarter pants with flip flops when he committed the offence. 

The suspect has a tattoo of a green bird with a long neck on his leg. He has a boxcut with a punk and both sides of his head is shaved off. The top of his hair is dyed brown.

He also walks with a distinct limp.
