A seriously injured driver of a Police vehicle was this morning rescued by the National Fire authority after the police van ran into an electric pole at Ratu Sukuna Road.

The Acting Chief Fire Officer, Tupou Saubulinayau said they received the call at around two this morning and after reaching the scene they found the driver trapped inside the van.

He said the fire officers after taking the driver out rushed him to the hospital.

Saubulinayau said his officers have been trained for road accident rescue where they use specialised equipment to see that the people in the vehicle are not injured while they are being taken out of the vehicle.
