Police confronted some people going out in fishing boats in the Environmental Emergency declared zones over the weekend.
Fijivillage has received confirmation that these people were found going out at night.
When we contacted Police Chief of Operations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu, he said that no charges have been laid.
However his instruction to the officers is clear.
The Environmental Emergency Declaration Regulation has been implemented for areas from the mouth of the Rewa River to the Fiji Development bank foreshore area, including Nukulau Island, whole of the Laucala Bay area and 3km further up the Cunningham River mouth.
This follows the burst sewerage trunk line at the four miles bridge last year.
The Environmental Emergency Declaration Regulation will come to an end at the end of this month however it can be extended if the need arises.
