Police have confirmed that the girl whose body was found floating in a river in Muaniweni yesterday, drowned.
According to police, the 16 year old girl was reported missing from her home a few days ago.
Her body was found floating in the river by some villagers who were on their way to work.
A post mortem conducted yesterday revealed that she drowned.
The drowning toll is now nine compared to 17 during the same period last year.
