Police have arrested and charged two youths of Vuniyasa village, Nabouwalu for allegedly bashing a civil servant over the weekend.

Divisional Crime Officer Northern, ASP Luke Rawalai has confirmed that the victim who sustained serious injuries and is admitted at the Labasa Hospital was the main witness in relation to a murder case following the chiefly dispute over the Buli Raviravi title.

It is alleged that the victim was returning from work when the suspects who were drunk confronted him and accused him of giving information to police that led to their uncle and fathers being remanded in custody on allegations of murder.

The victim sustained series facial injuries and was rushed to Labasa hospital by fellow villagers.

Police are closing monitoring the situation in the village after a 76 year old man died during a brawl between Nabouwalu and Vuniyasa villagers over the chiefly title.
