Police have budgeted more than $16,000 for the Blue Light program for 130 students from various schools to learn leadership skills and to assist them in decreasing crime.
Director Community Policing SSP Unaisi Vuniwaqa said the program was the first to be held in Fiji adding if police invested more money for the youths in terms of training and how to curb crime, the crime rate would decrease and less money will be used to fight crime in the future.
Police Commissioner Esala Teleni said Fiji will be declared a crime free nation in 2012.
The blue light youth program camp was held in Nasova for four days this past week.
