Police are awaiting the medical examination report of the 39 year old villager who is alleged to have killed a 2 year old girl in Momi on Friday night.

Police have confirmed that they are awaiting the psychiatric evaluation of the suspect before deciding charges to be laid against him.

A post mortem report of the victim revealed that she died of suffocation due to strangulation and there were signs of some physical injuries.

He is in custody at the Nadi police station.

 

2 year old allegedly murdered...

A 39 year old man of Momi, Nadi is expected to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court today in relation to the alleged murder of a 2 year old girl on Friday night.

Divisional Crime Officer Western SP Luke Rawalai has confirmed that a post mortem conducted revealed that the 2 year old died of suffocation due to strangulation and was physically assaulted.

He is in custody at the Nadi Police station.

Meanwhile, a total of four people have been arrested in relation to the brutal killing of a 60 year old retired bank officer of Ba, whose body was found inside his home on Tuesday.

Rawalai said they are looking for more people they think are involved.

Post mortem of the deceased revealed that he died of strangulation.

 

Man in custody for alleged murder...

A 39 year old unemployed villager is in police custody in relation to death of a 2 year old girl in Nakorotula in Nadi near Momi Bay yesterday.

Police Spokesperson Wame Boutolu said the girl was reported missing by family members on Friday and police discovered her body yesterday morning in the bushes with visible injuries.

He said the suspect was arrested after he allegedly confessed to killing the girl.

A post mortem is expected to be conducted later today and the suspect may be charged following the post mortem results.
