Police will now await the decision of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on whether any charges will be laid against the people who allegedly made inciteful comments during the Pacific Dialogue meeting in Suva last week.
Fiji Labour Party Leader Mahendra Chaudhry was released after being interviewed at the Totogo Police Station yesterday afternoon.
Police say the investigation file regarding all persons who were questioned over the weekend will be forwarded to the DPP’s Office for sanctioning.
NFP Leader Professor Biman Prasad, SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka, Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions General Secretary Attar Singh, Jone Dakuvula and Tupeni Baba who were taken in for questioning by Police on Saturday afternoon, were released on Sunday night.
Fijivillae has been informed that Police are focusing on alleged inciteful comments made in the meeting.
We have also received information that Police searched the houses and offices of some of the people taken in for questioning.
Kamal Iyer who is in charge of the NFP office at Princes Road confirms that Police searched the NFP office and went away with NFP Leader Biman Prasad’s laptop.
Iyer says that he had asked for the search warrant and the warrant stated that they were looking for a circular and minutes of a meeting held on 5th September, 2016.
Jone Dakuvula was the organizer of the meeting held in Suva on the 5th of September.
