Three police officers in the western division received serious injuries after the police patrol vehicles they were in were stoned in Nadi in two separate incidents on Saturday night.

Assistant Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed that two police cars were stoned near Namotomoto Village in Nadi. In this incident two police constables were injured.

In another incident, a police vehicle from Lautoka Police Station was stoned on its way back from Nadi at the Nadi Bridge.

Another police vehicle came to the rescue but was also stoned with another constable injured.

According to Sokomuri, in both cases people were brought in for questioning but had to be released due to insufficient evidence.
