Labasa Police are now trying to have an urgent meeting with the Management of the Labasa Hospital, to discuss certain aspects of the post mortem report, which indicates the reason which led to the death of a 4 day old baby over the weekend.

Divisional Crime Officer Northern, ASP Luke Rawalai, has confirmed they are trying to meet with the management to discuss their policy on when to inject a baby.

They are also trying to determine whether a nurse or a doctor can inject a baby when they are breastfeeding.

ASP Rawalai has confirmed they have already interviewed the nurse who is under investigation, and upon further discussion with the Pathologist and the hospital management a decision will be made.

Meanwhile, Manager Labasa Hospital, Doctor Samuela Korovou told Fijivillage News this morning that they are ready to assist the police in any possible way.
