Police are expected to decide today on what they will do in relation to the SDL's treason complaint filed against the RFMF officers and all those who took up appointments after the 2006 takeover.
With the statute of limitation to lay a treason charge standing at two years, ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase and others want the investigation to commence as soon as possible as it would be 2 years this December since the alleged offence was committed.
However, before the top brass of the Fiji Police Force meet today, the Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni said the complainants to respect the rule of law as the case between Laisenia Qarase and Commodore Bainimarama is pending in court.
The lawyer for Qarase and others, Niko Nawaikula maintained that the High Court case between Qarase and Bainimarama is a civil matter while the investigation that they have asked for is criminal in nature.
He said the investigation should not be mixed up with the civil case.
