Police have intervened to stop the demolition of a mosque in Natadola.

Officials at the Sigatoka Police have confirmed that a resort owner obtained a High Court order to demolish the mosque as part of the development on their land.

However, the mosque owner also filed an affidavit in the High Court stating that the resort owner has no right to demolish the mosque.

Police have instructed the resort owner not to go ahead with the demolition and wait for the High Court ruling.

Demolition work had started on Saturday. However, police officers arrived at the scene and told the construction company to stop the work.
