Police are searching for a 25-year-old Chinese national in the Wainibuka river after the Pajero he was driving went off the road and landed in the river yesterday afternoon.
Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the man is working as a consultant for Telecom Fiji and was driving near Vatuqio where he is believed to have lost control of the vehicle which landed in the river.
A 24-year-old female consultant who was sitting in the front passenger seat of the Pajero was saved by the nearby village members.
Police said the man may have drowned as villagers and police could not find him inside his Pajero.
The woman is recovering at the Nausori hospital.
