Labasa police are questioning a nurse based at the Labasa hospital on allegations of negligence.

Divisional Crime Officer Northern ASP Luke Rawalai has confirmed the nurse was brought in for questioning this morning after police received the post mortem report of the 4 day old baby.

The post mortem report reveals that the baby died of choking.

ASP Rawalai has this morning revealed that the nurse injected the baby while the mother was breastfeeding him. He added the parents are saying that the nurse should have waited for the baby to finish drinking milk before injecting him.

General Manager Labasa Hospital Doctor Samuela Korovou is in a meeting and is expected to comment later today.
