Two people are in custody at the Namaka Police Station for allegedly assaulting Police Officers.
Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says on Sunday evening, a report of a fight in progress in Careras, Votualevu was received and two officers were deployed to the scene.
She says the two police officers found the two suspects drinking and when approached they allegedly swore at the two officers.
Naisoro says despite being warned to refrain from doing so, they allegedly assaulted the officers both of whom sustained injuries.
She says both suspects ran away from the scene and were later arrested.
Police say the offence of assaulting an officer during the course of their duty is a serious offence.
