Police have sounded a stern warning to those who are treating Police cases lightly.
Assistant Police Spokesperson, Corporal Josaia Weicavu said there have been many instances where police officers have been assaulted by members of the public.
Weicavu said police won't tolerate those found assaulting police officers because it’s a serious crime.
Meanwhile, Police have charged a 27-year-old unemployed man of Kubukawa, Tovata for allegedly assaulting a Police Officer at Pritam Singh Road early Saturday morning.
Weicavu confirme that the officer was attending to a case of car theft when the alleged incident took place.
It is alleged the man punched the officer when he started questioning him.
The man will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.
