A team of police officers led by the Divisional Crime Officer Northern, ASP Luke Rawalai are in Taveuni to investigate the circumstances relating to the death of a 12yr old student last Friday.

The Media Liasion Officer, Atu Sokomuri said the student's post mortem report reveals that the extent of injury to his head is severe which cannot be caused by a coconut but an object such as a stone.

Sokomuri said police initial investigation also shows that the student was hit by a stone and not a coconut. He said ASP Rawalai and his officers are interviewing teachers and students of the school where the alleged incident took place.

He said the post mortem report and the report given by the teachers and some students are contradictory.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry is also carrying out their internal investigations.

General Manager Health Services Northern, Sister Selina Waqa confirms she was briefed by Taveuni Health officials and what she understands is that the Doctors did not see any problem with Lewenilovo before they sent him home.
