The Fiji Police Force is in desperate need of 84 vehicles for their operations as the shortage of vehicles has resulted in the delay in response to crimes committed in various divisions.

Police Chief of Staff Operations SSP Berenado Daveta told Interim Minister for Defense Ratu Epeli Ganilau today while launching the National Operation Centre at CPS, that the shortage of vehicles remains a major obstacle in fighting crime effectively.

SSP Berenado said the interim government only allocated $500,000 this year which enabled Police to buy only 12 new vehicles.

Interim Defense Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau said he will refer the matter to Cabinet for consideration.

Meanwhile, the Indian High Commissioner to Fiji donated 4 new vehicles to Commissioner Esala Teleni today.
