Commissioner of Police Ben Groenewald have praised members of the Fiji Police sevens team for winning the Bayley’s Fiji Coral Coast Sevens tournament last weekend.
In a special morning tea today, Groenwald said the team brought back some pride to the Force after losing the Sukuna Bowl to the RFMF.
He added the win was highly publicized and it was all part of Policing Fiji through Rugby community policing initiative.
The players also presented the $30,000 cheque prize money to the Commissioner who also gave his approval for the players to share part of the prize money.
In praising the players, he also congratulated Apisalome Waqatabu, Ilisoni Tavaiqia, Keponi Paul and Manueli Laqai who have been selected to be part of the Fiji Sevens training squad for Dubai and South Africa 7s.
Meanwhile Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan said he is satisfied with the level of fitness in his training squad so far.
Ryan said he will not push them further if they have already reached their peak but will be looking to maintain their fitness level.
The players will march into camp tomorrow at the Uprising Beach Resort.
The Dubai 7s will be held from the 5th to the 7th of next month.
