The Police Commissioner has issued a stern message to his senior police officers to deal with the public complaints being received by the Prime Minister's Office and Police in relation to the force.

Brigadier General Iowane Naivalurua said the senior officers need to urgently address the complaints from the public.

He said the number of complaints received also questions the effectiveness, efficiency, integrity and commitment of the force.

179 complaints in relation to the services of the Fiji Police Force were received by the Prime Minister's office while a total of 164 were received by police from all divisions around the country for January alone this year.

For the whole of last year, a total of 1,372 complaints were received by the Prime Minister's office while a total of 1,290 were received by Police from all divisions in the country.
