The Fiji Police Force stressed that its involvement with the consultation teams on the draft People’s Charter is to ensure transparency and accountability in the entire process.
When questioned by Fijivillage this afternoon on the need for police to be assigned to the National Council for Building a Better Fiji (NCBBF) consultation teams, Director Police Operations Senior Superintendent of Police Waisea Tabakau said they are only doing what is required.
Tabakau said while there are no serious concerns for the safety of the members of the consultation teams, they are also there to ensure law and order is maintained during consultations.
The draft Charter consultation teams started their work yesterday.
