Police in the north together with church ministers are providing counseling to those who have been involved in sexual offences.
Divisional Police Commander Northern ASP Isikeli Ligairi said serious steps now need to be taken as most youths are now also being associated with cases regarding sexual offences.
Statistics from January to June reveal 61 reported sexual offence cases from the north compared to 60 last year.
The most common cases were attempted rape and rape which stood at 27, up from 19 for the same period last year.
Defilement reports increased from 14 in 2008 to 22 this year.
There were also increases in indecent assault cases.
