The Police Blues have retained the Escott Shield after a dramatic 18-15 win over the Fiji Bitter NFA side in the final last night.

Both sides scored two tries each but the brigade from Nasova stuck to their game plan to secure two three pointers from two penalties.

The Police dominance came from their powerful forwards which resulted in a penalty try in the 15th minute of the first half.

Police coach Solomone Nute said this is a good buildup to the much anticipated Sukuna Bowl Challenge in the next few weeks.

Nute said that this win is also to farewell their hard working captain Maciu Vakaruru who has been leading them for 10 years.

The Fiji Bitter NFA side did not walk away empty handed as they won the Round Robin competition with the prize money of $2,000 plus $1,500 as the prize money for runners up.

Meanwhile, Police walked away with $3,000 and the Best Player Award to their tighthead prop Joeli Veitayaki.

In the third and fourth place playoff, Fiji Bitter Army Green defeated Covenant Blues 15-13.
