With the Education Ministry reviewing the role of exams in the school curriculum, there are revelations that the Fiji Intermediate Exam will be phased out by next year.
Education Minister Filipe Bole said there are plans to phase out the Class 6 exams at the beginning of next year while consideration will also be given to Fiji Eighth Year Examination and Fiji Junior Certificate depending on the budget and resources.
He added that these will ensure fewer dropouts and more students getting the opportunity to end up at tertiary institutes.
Bole had earlier said that in place of these exams, the Ministry is developing other assessment methods to see how students progress through their education and successfully complete it.
