Plans to hold a carnival in Savusavu after a lapse of about 6 years are currently being looked at by the Town Council.

Acting Chief Executive for the Savusavu Town Council Shiu Chand said they have been looking at the possibility of having the carnival but will have to wait for the Friendly North Festival to finish before they relook at the proposal.

Chand said it would be a good idea to have the carnival as it will see an increase in tourists and sales for the local shops.

However, he said this will only take place if they secure good sponsorship as thousands of dollars is needed to have such celebrations.

The last Savusavu carnival was held in 2002 and if one is held this year the Council is thinking of naming it the "Hidden Paradise Festival".
