The planned auction of the multimillion dollar Momi Bay Resort project will go ahead as scheduled after the High Court dismissed an application for an injunction to stop the auction in the last hour.

Judge Justice Williame Callancini dismissed the application for an injunction from Matapo Limited in the Labasa high court and also ordered that Matapo hand over all the documents, including site plans and maps of the Momi project to the Fiji National Provident Fund.

While dismissing the application, Justice Callancini noted that work at Momi stopped in 2006 and that Matapo had not put in any satisfactory submissions to explain what they would now do if they had possession of the property.

The auction will now take place next Tuesday as scheduled.

The FNPF earlier confirmed that investors from around the world have shown interest in purchasing the resort project as they aim to recover the over $80 million invested by the Fund.
