Two aircraft maintenance engineers are admitted in Lautoka hospital after the aircraft in which they were carrying out works caught fire in Nadi yesterday.

Acting Divisional Crime Officer Western, ASP Manasa Talala confirms that the aircraft was in the hanger at the airport when the incident took place.

The fire started from the engine of the two seater aircraft when the two maintenance engineers were still inside the cockpit. They managed to jump out however they suffered serious burns.

The 35 year old engineer suffered 40 percent burns while a 25 year old sustained burns to his hands.

Both were rushed to the Lautoka hospital while firefighters managed to put out the fire.
